Salobreña, a jewel of the Costa Tropical, is not only known for its stunning views and Moorish charm but also for its vibrant festivals. Throughout the year, the town comes alive with celebrations that showcase its rich traditions, music, and gastronomy. Here’s a look at the most important events you won’t want to miss.

Semana Santa (Holy Week) – March or April
One of the most solemn and spectacular celebrations, Semana Santa varies in date each year, depending on the Christian calendar. The streets fill with religious processions, beautifully adorned floats, and the sound of marching bands. A deeply rooted tradition, it offers a unique glimpse into Andalusian spirituality and culture.

Feria de Salobreña – Mid-August
Held around August 15th, this fair is a burst of color, music, and dancing. Locals and visitors enjoy flamenco performances, fairground attractions, and delicious Andalusian cuisine. The lively atmosphere, combined with the warmth of the locals, makes it an unforgettable experience.

Fiesta de la Pasa (Raisin Festival) – Late October or Early November
This festival honors one of Salobreña’s most traditional agricultural products. Visitors can learn about the raisin-making process, enjoy tastings, and immerse themselves in the town’s rural heritage through music, dance, and local delicacies.

Carnaval de Salobreña – February or Early March
A celebration of creativity and fun, Carnival takes place before Lent, with vibrant costumes, parades, and theatrical performances. It’s a time of laughter, dancing, and contagious joy, making it a must-experience event.

Día de la Cruz (Day of the Cross) – May 3rd
On this day, Salobreña is adorned with flower-covered crosses, filling the streets with beauty and tradition. Locals decorate public spaces with elaborate floral displays while live music and dance performances add to the festive atmosphere.

Salobreña Music Festival – July or August
Held in the summer, this festival brings together national and international artists for a series of concerts in stunning venues like the town’s historic castle. From flamenco to jazz and classical music, it’s a true delight for music lovers.
