Published:

Roquetas de Mar is known for being the most touristic village of Almería: this municipality includes the centres of population of El Parador, Las Marinas, Aguadulce, Urbanizacion and Las Salinas. The special aspect of this site is that it mixes well touristic developed services with the traditional details of a typical Andalusia village and the experience of many virgin beaches and natural protected spaces. All this allows us to find in just one village from a big aquapark to Posidonia reefs plenty of colourful fishes and corals. Every type of tourism that you want to do can be satisfyed in this location! Let's go to the important questions:

  • Where to go swimming in Roquetas de Mar?
    • Ventilla beach (a nice beach of fine sand perfect for diving and swimming, it's not very crowded)
    • Serena beach (the widest beach of the zone)
    • Aguadulce beach (we have a post about this one, it's an all-service beach with an amazing sunset)
    • Cerrillos beach (located in the natural protected area of Punta Entinas-Sabinar)
    • The beach de la Bajadilla (maybe the busier one because it has all the facilities and services)

  • What to do in Roquetas de Mar?
    • Visit the nature reserve of Punta Entinas-Sabinar: a natural area of coastal and terrestrial biotypes where it's easy to find flamingos and other migratory birds. This location includes sandy beaches, a system of dunes surrounded by Mediterranean scrubs, a marshy area and the saltworks zone. It's a perfect place to walk, dive or admire the native Almeria ecosystem.
    • Dive in these beaches and see the important Posidonia reefs, which are home to an impressive community of Mediterranean marine fauna, with fishes, corals, crabs and sponges. Here they find an nice place to shelter, feed and reproduce.
    • Visit the village an its important monuments like the Museum of bullfighting, the lighthouse, the Castle of Santa Ana, the Aquarium of Roquetas de Mar and the seaports of Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce.
    • Try the typical food and desserts of the area: the economy of Roquetas de Mar it's not only focused on tourism of "sun and beach" but also on agriculture and fishing. You wild find here delicious fresh dishes from the sea and from the countryside.
