Restaurante El Peñón: good food and stunning views

Dear guest, Restaurante El Peñón was founded in 1954, when fishermen from Salobreña and La Caleta fished near the beach with small boats and sold fish on the same shore.

When they finished they made some skewers on the beach to eat, and that was when the owner came up with the idea of ​​setting up a small "chambao", that is, the summer closing system, partial or total, of a terrace, patio or any other type of enclosure normally open and exposed to the excessive hot sun of the region, to sell cold drinks.

After a few years, the small wooden "job" began to be turned into a business that prospered when the first visitors to Granada and Jaén appeared along the coast of Salobreña in those mythical buses of the time.

Then, the tourists arrived, most of them from Germany, England, Belgium and France. Even with the lack of understanding for the language, Restaurante El Peñón realized the interest they had for our gastronomy. During this period, the small "chambao" was modified and enlarged to become a beach bar and local products began to be offered from the area, such as fried "small fish", seafood and tropical fruits.

In 1980 the last major renovation was carried out (which makes it the restaurant it is today).

It is a restaurant specialized in fish and seafood, as it is located on the coast.

In its menu we can find specialties such as: al-Andalus mussels, rock salmon, fish and shellfish zarzuela and lobster stew.
