New section of A-44 clears traffic in the city of Granada

Published:

Dear guest, the new exterior variant of Granada A-44, which with 27.3 kilometers will alleviate the current ring road of this Andalusian province capital, has recently entered service after a global investment of 340 million euros and some works that have been extended in the different sections over thirteen years.

The new exterior variant, which becomes part of the A-44 highway that connects Sierra Nevada and the Costa Tropical and improves the corridor that goes from Bailén (Jaén) to Motril (Granada), plans to take out about 30,000 vehicles and over 3,000 trucks a year from the first ring road that runs alongside the capital of Granada.

The action improves the Bailén-Motril corridor and is located further west of the current Granada ring road, which changes its name to GR-30, with a marked metropolitan character and traffic intensities greater than 140,000 vehicles per day, which will contribute to reduce pollution levels in the city.

The new sections of the Granada Exterior Bypass have six junctions along their route. One of them, at kilometer 138, is configured as a U-turn. The other five joins the new highway with the N-432, the A-92G, the A-92, one exit from Las Gabias and another through Alhendín. And that added to the confluence in the A-44 by El Chaparral and El Suspiro del Moro.

Direct connection Granada - Seville without entering the city of Granada

Section Atarfe - Santa Fe
This is the first new section that has entered service and that connects from the Genil River viaduct to the town of Santa Fe, where it allows connection with several important points in Granada.

The road crosses over the A92G and has another service road, exit 125, which makes it possible to join whether you want to go to Puente de los Vados or Granada capital and Bobadilla, or if the intention is to join the A92G towards Santa Fe, Chauchina, the Granada Airport itself or if you want to travel to Seville or Almería. It also enables the connection to Vegas del Genil and the GR3304.

Dear guest, if you have any questions about how to get to Seville through the new ring road when you are in one of our wonderful villas, Grandes Villas will be more than happy to help you.
