Highway A7 or Mediterranean highway

Published:

Dear guest, the Mediterranean highway or A-7 is a Spanish highway belonging to the State Roads Network that begins in Algeciras and ends in Barcelona. In the nomenclature of the European Road Network it is the Spanish section of the E-15. The highway is the responsibility of the Ministry of Development. The route of the highway is completed for the most part.

As it passes through the province of Granada, the A-7 motorway connects the western coastal part of Andalusia with the eastern part. In the province of Granada it passes through the Costa Tropical. In this case, it is the foothills of the Sierra Nevada that provide the unevenness. Regarding the most notable locations to taste the Mediterranean water, there are many to choose from. In the western part, Almuñécar and Salobreña stand out. Towards the center, Motril and Castell de Ferro are great alternatives.

The Costa Tropical can be reached from the city of Granada by the A-44 highway (Bailén - Motril) to La Gorgoracha, which connects with the A-7 and from here by the recently inaugurated GR-14 urban highway to the N- 340. From Malaga the A-7 also runs towards the Costa Tropical (in parallel with the N-340) or from Almería in the direction of Malaga.

Completion of the section of the A-7 highway in the province of Granada

In October 2015, the Prime Minister at that time, Mariano Rajoy, and the Minister of Public Works at that time, Ana Pastor, attended the commissioning ceremony of the last section of the A-7 Mediterranean Highway, the Carchuna- Castell de Ferro.

Finally, in 2015, the Autovía del Mediterráneo was completed in the province of Granada, where the objective of connecting the cities of Malaga, Motril and Almería, and their Costa del Sol, Tropical and Almería, by a high-capacity road was achieved.

Likewise, in addition to completing the Mediterranean Highway, A-7, in Granada, the 1,440-km-long Mediterranean Corridor is fully completed in high capacity, which runs from Cádiz to the border with France. Therefore, it is a strategic axis of communication not only for Andalusia but also for the entire road network in Spain.

Dear guest, most of you arrive at one of our villas from Malaga airport and will use the A-7 highway to reach the Costa Tropical. The completion of this highway cuts arrival times from Malaga by more than 1 hour. I wish you a good trip to the Costa Tropical!
