Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén airport

Dear guest, Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport is a Spanish airport owned by Aena located between the municipalities of Chauchina and Santa Fe, both in the province of Granada, 17 kilometers northwest of the city.

Granada airport has its origin in Armilla, one of the oldest airports on the peninsula and currently a school for helicopter pilots.

The first flights that took place in Armilla were in a static balloon around the year 1895, and the first flight by plane in 1911. The first civil flight took place in 1929, an activity that came to a standstill after the putsch and the Spanish Civil War. After this conflict, the airport would reopen in 1946 with both national and international destinations.

Starting in 1950, the continuous growth and the limitation of the runway made it necessary to transfer commercial operations to a new airport that had to be built, the current Granada airport, which was inaugurated in 1972  which received national and international flights and even received the Concorde, the last supersonic aircraft manufactured.

The 2900-meter and 45-meter-wide airport runway has parking for 11 commercial aircraft. The terminal building offers all the services that may be needed such as a restaurant, VIP room, offices to rent a car at the Granada airport, public parking ... etc.
