Malaga – Costa del Sol airport

Published:

Dear guest, Malaga - Costa del Sol airport is located in the district of Churriana, 8 kilometers away from the city of Malaga. It is the fourth airport in Spain in terms of air traffic.

Due to its high growth in recent years, a second runway was added that can be used during the days of greater air traffic to speed up traffic.

It is an airport with domestic and international flights, connecting with more than one hundred European cities, Russia, North Africa and North America.

Of the three Spanish aerodromes that participated in the first air route (Toulouse-Barcelona-Alicante-Málaga-Casablanca), established in Spain in 1919 by the French company founded by Pierre Latécoère, Lignes Aeriennes Latécoère, it is the only one that has continued to operate continuously, thus becoming the dean of Spanish airports.

Besides being the fourth airport in Spain in terms of air traffic, it is the one with the highest air traffic of the 5 airports that currently exist in Andalusia. The Malaga airport accounts for 85% of the community's passenger air traffic.

Airport data

The airport is equipped by two runways, with an elevation of 16 meters above sea level and more than 3,000 meters in length, in addition to 45 meters width. Malaga airport has 5 terminals.

The three terminals for commercial traffic at Malaga Airport have been designed and built separately in different stages, but they have been connected internally so that passengers experience a total sense of continuity.
